News

  • Fox 21 has acquired the rights to adapt the video game Vampyr into a television series.
  • Hulu is developing a revival of Veronica Mars, the beloved teen noir series.  Kristin Bell (The Good Place), who portrayed the titular character, and series Creator Rob Thomas (iZombie) are already attached.
  • Apple has ordered Foundation, the Isaac Asimov adaptation from David S Goyer (DaVinci's Demons) and Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), to series.
  • Starz has acquired US distribution rights to the British drama Save Me The series stars Lennie James (The Walking Dead) and Suranne Jones (A Touch of Cloth).
  • ABC has ordered a reboot of Bewitched, this time featuring an interracial family, from Kenya Barris and Yamara Taylor (Black-ish).
  • The yet to be released short story collection for Author Cecelia Ahern, Roar, is already being adapted for TVLiz Flahive and Carly Mensch (GLOW) will serve as Co-Showrunners, and Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, and Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies) are on board as Executive Producers.
  • After the critical success of The Leftovers, HBO is going back to the Tom Perrotta well with an adaptation of his novel Mrs. Fletcher.  Perrotta who served as an Executive Producer and Co-Showrunner on HBO's adaptation of The Leftovers (along side LOST's Damon Lindelof), will once again serve as Executive Producer and Showrunner.  The coming of age comedy series will star Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Recreation), Jackson White (The Middle), Casey Wilson (Marry Me), Owen Teague (It), and Jen Richards (Better Things).
  • Hulu is partnering with Channel 4 and Jack Thorne (National Treasure) again on The Light, a miniseries about the cause and aftermath of a catastrophic event in a small town in Wales.
  • Preacher's Joe Gilgun is creating (along with Shameless Writer Danny Brocklehurst), and will star in the Sky 1 drama Brassic, which explores the lives of a group of friends in Northern England.  Damien Molony (Being Human) and Michelle Keegan (Ordinary Lies) will be co-starring with Gilgun.
  • CBS has ordered a put-pilot for The Little Things, a sitcom from Scott Marder (The Mick) and Comedians Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky, who will star in the series.
  • HBO has officially ordered Damon Lindelof's (LOST) adaptation of  Watchmen to series, with a vague 2019 premiere.
  • Giri/Haji, the ambitious co-production from The BBC and Netflix has announced its international cast: Takehiro Hira (Killing for the Prosecution), Yosuke Kubozuka (Ping-Pong), Masahiro Motoki (Departures), Yuko Nakamura (Flash Forward), Aoi Okuyama (Nana), Mitsuko Oka (Red Beard), Togo Igawa (Memoirs of a Geisha), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Charlie Creed-Miles (Peaky Blinders), Will Sharpe (Flowers), Tony Pitts (Peaky Blinders)), and Justin Long (Drag Me to Hell).
  • RenĂ©e Zellweger (Jerry Maguire) and Jane Levy (Castle Rock) cast in Netflix's new anthology series What/If.
  • Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott both returning to American Horror Story for its 8th season, Apocalypse.
  • We will be seeing a lot more of Ajay Friese's formerly recurring role of Vijay Dhar in Netflix's Lost in Space, as the Actor has been upped to a series regular.
  • White Collar's Matt Bomer has joined the cast of Will &Grace.
  • Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Nell Tiger Free (Game of Thrones) cast in M. Night Shyamalan's (Split) yet untitled psychological thriller for Apple.
  • FX to adapt Hannah Fidell’s film, A Teacher, to series.  Kate Mara (House of Cards) to take the lead role.
  • DC Universe's Doom Patrol has cast its Robotman with The Mummy's Brendan Fraser.
  • Joey King (The Kissing Booth) has joined her sister, Hunter King, on the cast of Life in Pieces.
  • Andrew Scott (Sherlock) has joined the cast of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag.
  • Former NBA Star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has joined the cast of iZombie as Zed, a Zombie, and Member of Seattle's City Council.
  • Ben Barnes (Westworld) has joined the cast of  Gold Digger as Benjamin Golding, a man who starts a relationship with a woman that is 25 years older than him.
  • Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) will voice Della Duck, in Disney's new take on Duck Tales.
  • Shalita Grant (Mercy Street) has joined the cast of The Santa Clarita Diet as FBI Agent Tess Rogers. 
  • Brooklynn Prince (Monsters at Large) has been cast in the lead role of Apple's yet untitled series based on Hilde Lysiak, the 9 year old Journalist who scooped fellow reporters on a murder case.
  • Ken Jeong (Community) and Carl Weathers (Rocky) cast in CBS' Magnum PI reboot.
  • The BBC has released the names of the Writers and Directors for the upcoming season of Doctor WhoWriters include the prolific YA Author Malorie Blackman, Ed Hime (Skins), Playwright Vinay Patel, Pete McTighe (Wentworth), and Joy Wilkinson (The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby).  Directors include Sallie Aprahamian (Teachers), already existing Who Director Jamie Childs, Jennifer Perrott (Gentleman Jack), and Mark Tonderai (Black Lightning).
  • Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor) has signed a 2 year development deal with Sony, who produce his current series.
  • Jessica Jones Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg will be leaving the series after its 3rd season to join Warner Bros Television, where she has just signed an overall development deal.
  • Netflix has cancelled both The Break With Michelle Wolf and The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale.
  • Renewals: NBC has renewed their crafting series Making It, while Netflix has renewed The End of the Fucking World and GLOW.
