News

  • Netflix has ordered Car Masters: Rust To Riches. The reality series will focus on people who restore "rust buckets" to new glory.
  • TNT has ordered The Angel of Darkness, the sequel series to The Alienist
  • Similarly, Netflix has ordered Hyperdrive.  Produced by Actress Charlize Theron, Hyperdrive is a competitive car based obstacle course series.
  • Hulu has ordered an adaptation of Giannis Milonogiannis' cyberpunk graphic novel Old City BluesKerry Washington (Scandal) is set to star in and produce the series, while Gore Verbinski has signed on as a Director, and Chris Black (Outcast) as Showrunner.
  • ABC has ordered a spinoff of their sitcom The Middle.  The spin-off will follow the character of Sue Heck as she moves to Chicago.
  • Lee Daniels Entertainment is partnering with Fox 21 Television Studios to adapt the novel The Spook Who Sat By The Door by Sam Greenlee, as a TV series.  Greenlee's book had previously been adapted as a blaxploitation film in 1973.
  • Netflix has picked up Living With Yourself, the Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) vehicle about a man who undergoes a procedure to improve himself, only to end up replaced with an improved clone of himself.  The series was created by Timothy Greenberg (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), and will be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine).
  • Black-ish Creator Kenya Barris has joined Shonda Rhimes (Scandal) and Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) at Netflix by signing a 3-year deal with the streaming giant.
  • Mark Hamill (Star Wars) has joined the cast of History's Nightfall in a recurring role.
  • Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy) and Alessandro Borghi (Suburra) have been cast as the leads in Devils, an English Language Italian series.
  • Chris Chalk (Gotham), Marquis Rodriguez (Luke Cage), Ethan Herisse (About a Boy), Freddy Miyares (Elementary), Caleel Harris (Goosebumps 2), as well as the fresh faced Justin Cunningham have joined the cast of Netflix's star-studded limited series Central Park Five.
  • Iconic Vocalist Mary J. Blige has joined the cast of Scream's 3rd season at MTV as Sherry Elliot, the Mother of the series new lead.
  • Nina Sosanya (Love Actually), Edward Bluemel (A Discovery of Witches), and Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh) have joined the second season of BBC America's hit series Killing Eve.
  • Michael Angarano (I’m Dying Up Here) has been cast as Jack's Brother Nicky, in NBC's This is Us.
  • Rob Heaps (Imposters), Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries), Paul Fitzgerald (GLOW), Joyful Drake (Bad Ass), Tammy Blanchard (The Big C), Antonio J Bell (Greenleaf), and Alison Thornton (Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency) have been cast in USA's adaptation of the Megan Abbott novel Dare Me.
  • Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon), Michael Dorman (Daybreak), and Sarah Jones (Alcatraz) will be portraying NASA Astronauts in Ron D Moore's (Battlestar Galactica) yet untitled SciFi pilot for Apple.
  • Riverdale has cast Mark Consuelos' son, Michael Consuelos (Go, Diego! Go!), to play his character's, Hiram Lodge, younger self for a flashback episode.
  • Raúl Castillo (We the Animals) and Adrian Gonzalez (Superstore) have joined the cast of Starz' Vida.
  • Though the Supernatural spin-off, Wayward Sisters, was not picked up to series, the 4 leads will all be returning to Supernatural for multiple episodes.
  • Vincent D'Onofrio (Daredevil) has taken to Twitter to ask the public if he should take the role of an "irredeemable racist" in an undisclosed new drama.  D'Onofrio expressed concerns based on the current political climate.  Fellow Actors Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy), Donal Logue (Terriers), and Carl Weathers (Rocky) weighed in through the social platform, but no decision has yet been announced.
  • Renewals:  Easy, Fastest Car, and Anne with an E at Netflix, Knightfall at History, and Castle Rock at Hulu.
  • Meanwhile, Hard Sun was cancelled by BBC/Hulu.
