- Showtime has ordered Black Monday, a new comedy series about the stock market crash of October 19th, 1987. The cast will be lead by Don Cheadle (Avengers: Infinity War).
- Imagine Television is developing an adaptation of Carmen Maria Machado's book Her Body and Other Parties. The anthology series is being pitched as a feminist Black Mirror.
- Werner Herzog (Invincible) and Christopher Wilkinson (Ali) are attached to Fordlandia, an adaptation of Greg Grandin's non-fiction novel of the same name. The series is being developed by Hyde Park Entertainment Group.
- Apple is developing a series based on Hilde Lysiak, the 11-year old investigative reporter that scooped all other new sources by exposing a murder.
- After a court ruling has allowed it (and without restrictions), Time Warner, not to be confused with Time Warner Cable which is now part of Spectrum, has been purchased by AT&T. In order to avoid future confusion, Time Warner has been renamed Warner Media. Warner Media owns and controls Turner (TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, and CNN) and HBO, among other properties.
- As a direct result of AT&T's purchase of Time Warner, Comcast has dropped a massive bid to purchase much of 20th Century Fox, including Fox, FX, FXX, FXM, Star Wars: A New Hope, and the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises. Disney had initially placed a $52B all stock bid on the company, but Comcast has bested it with a $65B all cash bid. Disney is now considering making a larger bid. For Disney, the deal would mean a more unified MCU and complete control over Star Wars.
- Roseanne Barr has agreed to walk away from her own series, as a possible spin-off series featuring the rest of the cast moves forward in negotiations with ABC.
- Apple has ordered an anthology series about immigration from married couple Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick).
- Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) has landed an adaptation of his comic book series Invincible at Amazon.
- Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Discovery) has signed a deal with CBS that includes expanding the Star Trek universe with as many as 3 new shows.
- Netflix has ordered Hache, an 8-part Spanish drama about Heroin.
- Dark Creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to develop additional projects for the streaming giant.
- Showtime has made the entire season 4 premiere of The Affair available on YouTube, for free, here.
- This year's season of American Horror Story will be a cross-over of the series first season, Murder-House, and its 3rd, Coven. The season had previously been rumored to be American Horror Story: Radioactive, the series first foray into the future.
- With Jordan Peele (Get Out) setting the precedent, Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) has now also inked a first look deal with Amazon.
- Courtney B. Vance (The People V OJ Simpson), Aunjanue Ellis (Quantico), and Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager) have joined the cast of HBO's Jordan Peele (Get Out) produced Lovecraft Country.
- Expect to see a lot more of Brainiac-5 on Supergirl next season, as Jesse Rath has been upped to series Regular.
- Shane lives! Well sort of. Jon Bernthal (Marvel's The Punisher) is returning to The Walking Dead for a single episode, likely in a flashback or delusion from Rick, whose Actor, Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), is leaving the series.
- Due to a scheduling conflict with the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) is departing her comedy series at Apple.
- As Hulu approaches an order for Zev Borow's (Chuck) comedy pilot Kansas City, John Slattery (Captain America: Civil War), Allison Tollman (Fargo), and Rafe Spall (The Big Short) have been added to its cast.
- Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) has joined the cast of Starz' new comedy series Now Apocalypse.
- Peter Outerbridge (Nikita) has joined the cast of Netflix's Vampire series V-Wars.
- Leah Remini (King of Queens) to portray a conservative lesbian in Fox's yet untitled multi-camera comedy series about Middle-America.
- Canadian series Absentia has been renewed for a second season, Amazon has yet to confirm if they will host the second season in the US like they did for the first.
- Lucifer has been revived by Netflix for a 10 episode 4th season. The shorter order (network seasons are typically 22 episodes) is meant to encompass the first half of what was planned for the series 4th season at Fox. Additional seasons could be purchased, depending on the success of the series on the streaming platform.
