News

  • NBC is developing The Inn Crowd, a multi-camera sitcom from David Holden (Young and Hungry), about a same sex couple opening an Inn in a small town.
  • HBO has picked up US distribution for The BBC's adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.
  • Phil Lord and Chris Miller, known commonly as Lord & Miller (The Last Man on Earth), are developing Business as Usual at NBC.  The series follows the lives of the employees of a company that is falling apart.
  • ABC is bringing back another classic sitcom with Designing Women, which will return as a continuation of the original.
  • NBC is working with NBA Superstar LeBron James and Actress Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect) to develop Hoops, a new drama about a former WNBA player who becomes the first female head coach of a men's college basketball team.
  • Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux (The Vampire Diaries) are sticking with The CW for their next project, The Cove, an adventure series about 2 sisters and a supernatural treasure in the Caribbean. 
  • The CW is developing an adaptation of the classic film Lean On Me, this time with a female lead.  Wendy Calhoun (Station 19), NBA Star LeBron James, and recent EGOT winner John Legend (Jesus Christ Superstar) are Producing.
  • Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman) has signed an overall deal with ABC.  Their first project together is a yet untitled family comedy starring Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth).
  • Comedian Maysoon Zayid is creating, writing, and starring in Can-Can, an autobiographical sitcom at ABC.
  • Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Marvel’s Runaways) are developing a yet untitled adult Nancy Drew series for The CW.  The show will be written by Noga Landau (The Magicians)
  • Party of Five Creators Christopher Keyser and Amy Lippman are rebooting their series at Freeform, this time with the parents being deported to Mexico, rather than dying.
  • Shudder has picked up the British series Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, about a police officer who gains the ability to control luck.
  • CBS and Barbara Hall (Madam Secretary) are developing Ms. Mayor, a series about a young activist who runs for office and, surprisingly, wins.
  • Jesse Alexander, who served as Showrunner for American Gods season 2 after the departure of original Showrunners Bryan Fuller and Micheal Green, has been formally asked to depart the series by Starz after significant delays, and problems behind the scenes.
  • Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) has joined the cast of the 3rd season of HBO's Westworld.  Yeah Bitch! Robots!
  • Cult Icon Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead) will have a 3 episode guest arc, starting next week, on AMC's Lodge 49.  Campbell will take on the crypticaly discussed role of "Captain".
  • Mykelti Williamson (Chicago PD) will portray Tom Barnes a CIA Recruiter in season 3 of Fox's Lethal Weapon.
  • Monica Raymund (Chicago Fire) has landed the lead role in Starz upcoming series P-Town, about the spread of the narcotic Heroin.
  • Derek Mears (Predators) has been cast as the titular character in DC Universe's "Hard R" adaptation of Swamp ThingCrystal Reed (Gotham) has also been cast, as the lead character Abby Arcane, with Maria Sten (Channel Zero) to Co-Star as her best friend Liz Tremayne
  • The leads for AMC's NOS4A2 have been found, with  Zachary Quinto (Heroes) being cast as the immortal children's soul stealing Charlie Manx and Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow, When the War Began) as Vic McQueen, who gains the supernatural ability to track him.
  • 2 more cast for this years Arrow-verse cross-over on the CW.  Arrow star Stephen Amell's wife Cassandra Jean Amell (Mad Men) has been cast as Nora Fries, the wife of Mr Freeze, and Bitsie Tulloch (Grimm) has been cast as Lois Lane. 
  • National Geographic's miniseries adaptation of Richard Preston's book about the Ebola virus, The Hot Zone, has found 8 for its cast with Noah Emmerich (The Americans), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Topher Grace (That 70s Show), Paul James (The Last Ship), Nick Searcy (Justified), Robert Wisdom (The Wire), James D’Arcy (Agent Carter), and Robert Sean Leonard (House).
  • ChloĆ« Sevigny (Big Love) and AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries) have been cast in Hulu's true crime anthology series The Act.
  • Netflix's Arthurian legend spin-off, Cursed, has found its lead in Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why), who will portray Nimue, the eventual Lady of the Lake.
  • Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) will portray an American villain in Flying Tiger, a Chinese language martial arts series from Hong Kong.
  • Sophia Bush (Chicago PD) has landed the lead role in CBS's NSA espionage series, Surveillance.
  • Barry Sloane (Revenge) has been cast in LA's Finest, The Bad Boys spin-off TV series.
  • Netflix's upcoming science fiction series Another Life has cast AJ Rivera (Alpha House), Alexander Eling (Make It Pop), Alex Ozerov (The Americans), Jake Abel (I Am Number Four), JayR Tinaco (Home and Away), Jessica Camacho (The Flash), Barbara Williams (Mayans MC), and Lina Renna (The 100).
  • Geoffrey Owens (The Cosby Show) has been offered several TV roles after Fox News shamed the Actor for working a job at Trader Joes.  The Actor has suffered from residual losses due to the recent Bill Cosby controversies.
  • Brooklyn Nine Nine has scored an additional 5 episode order at NBC, while The BBC has doubled their episode order for their adaptation of His Dark Materials.
  • Renewals: Insecure and Ballers at HBO, Insatiable at Netflix, and Absentia at Amazon.
