News

  • Epix has ordered Our Lady, LTD to series.  The story of the series focuses on a conman who bites off more than he can chew when he attempts to con a Pastor who isn't as easy a mark as he appears to be.  The series, which was created by Steve Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) and is produced by Bruce Terris (Patriot), will feature Sir Ben Kingsley (Operation Finale) as the dangerous Pastor Byron Brown.
  • Actress Regina King (Watchmen) is developing a series with ABC, currently titled Warriors, in which she will serve as a Producer and Director.
  • Showtime is developing an adaptation of Scott Thomas' horror novel Kill CreekMisha Green (Underground) and Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) are attached as Producers.
  • Hannah Moscovitch (Played) and Temple Street Productions (Orphan Black) are adapting Susan Swan’s The Biggest Modern Woman of the World for television.  The story, set in the 1800s follows Anna Swan, a 7'6" woman who served as a P.T. Barnum exhibit.
  • Lee Child is working to adapt his Jack Reacher novels for television.  The books had previously been adapted with Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible) in the titular role, but many fans objected to Cruise (who is a foot shorter than the character) in the role.
  • Netflix has announced 5 unscripted showsThe Final Table, a cooking competition between teams of chefs.  Death by Magic, an exploration of fatally failed magic tricks.  Sunderland Till I Die, about a small English town's passion for their local Football club.  Flinch, a game show in which contestants are challenged not to flinch, with brutal consequences for those who do.  Derren Brown: Sacrifice, the latest special from Illusionist Derren Brown.
  • Hulu is close to ordering a pilot for The Great, A Catherine the Great bio-series featuring Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon) and Nicholas Hoult (Skins).  The Great would be the second Catherine the Great series in development, as HBO and Sky are currently partnering on the miniseries Catherine the Great, featuring Hellen Mirren (RED).

  • Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, and Jayden Rey, the grandchildren from ABC's continuation of Roseanne have all signed on to return in The Connors.  Kenney had previously said she would not return to Roseanne after Roseanne's titular lead Roseanne Barr made a racist comment on Twitter, as the series has continued without Barr, and Kenney has suffered her own recent personal problems, the Actress has proven willing to return to a calmer Barr-less set.
  • Netflix has signed another overall development deal, this time with Gravity Falls Creator Alex Hirsch.
  • Endings:  I can't bill this under the usual "cancellations" but Showtime has confirmed that there will not be a second season of Who is America?  Meanwhile, Sam Esmail, Creator and Showrunner of Mr. Robot, has confirmed that his series will come to an end with its 4th season.
