  • The Disney/Fox deal grows ever closer as Shareholders of both companies have overwhelmingly voted in favor of the asset acquisition.
  • Former Epix CEO Mark Greenberg is teaming with Walmart to create a streaming video service, to compete with Netflix, which focuses on middle America.
  • According to the streaming giant's VP of original content Cindy Holland, Netflix and Marvel are perpetually in discussion about more shows for the service.
  • The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War) are cooking up something big at Amazon, something described as a "large-scope, multi-layered international event series."
  • Amazon has snagged a 2 season order for Lena Waithe's (The Chi) new series THEM.  The seasonal anthology series blends the horror genre with racial politics, diving into both real horrors and supernatural ones.
  • Amazon has ordered Upload, a 10 episode romantic scifi comedy series from Greg Daniels (The Office)
  • Amazon has ordered The Expatriates, a drama based on the novel by Janice Y.K. Lee about outsiders living in Hong Kong.
  • AMC has ordered Actor Jason Segel's (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) Anthology series Dispatches from Elsewhere.
  • Apple is buying the rights to turn Terry Gilliam's classic fantasy movie Time Bandits into a series.
  • Sony Pictures Television has acquired the rights to adapt Anthony Horowitz's teen-spy book series Alex Rider for television.  The book series had previously been adapted as a feature film.
  • 24 Creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran are teaming up again to work on a possible prequel for the action series.
  • Amazon has ordered a limited series adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's yet unreleased novel Daisy Jones & The Six, to be Produced by Reese Witherspoon's production company, Hello Sunshine.
  • Nicole Kidman (Eyes Wide Shut) is set to star in and produce an adaptation of Big Little Lies' Author Liane Moriarty’s upcoming book Nine Perfect Strangers.
  • Netflix has ordered White Lines, a new series from La Casa de Papel's Alex Pina.
  • TNT has ordered pilots for Constance, a drama series from Robert Downey Jr's (Iron Man) production company that stars Elisabeth Shue (The Karate Kid) as a former Beauty Queen coping with the sudden and mysterious death of her Husband, and Beast Mode, which is inspired by the life of boxing trainer Ann Wolfe.
  • HBO is heading into team drama with the pick-up of Euphoria, based on an Israeli series of the same name, Produced by Drake (Degrassi: The Next Generation), and staring Zendaya (Spiderman Homecoming) and Maude Apatow (This is 40).
  • Comedian Kid Fury is working with Lena Waithe (The Chi) to develop a comedy series for HBO.
  • FX has greenlit Fosse/Verdon, a new limited series, based on Sam Wasson's biography Fosee, from Lin Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), to star Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) and Sam Rockwell (Moon).
  • Netflix has ordered Daybreak, a zombie apocalypse dramedy based on the comic book by Brian Ralph.
  • Locke & Key, based on the comic books by Joe Hill, has officially been picked up for series by Netflix.
  • Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields (The Americans) re-teaming to bring rodeo drama Breckman Rodeo to Freeform.
  • Talk Show Host Kelly Ripa and her Husband, Actor Mark Consuelos, are bringing n adaptation of Jasmin Rosemberg's novel, How the Other Half Hamptons, to Freeform.
  • The long anticipated Deadwood movie has been officially greenlit by HBO.
  • The Coen Brothers' (Fargo) Netflix series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, will now be a 132 minute movie.
  • Netflix has confirmed that season 2 of Iron Fist will run shorter, at 10 episodes, instead of the usual 13.
  • Hulu's new Stephen King connecting tissue series for Hulu, Castle Rock, is actually a seasonal anthology.
  • HBO has debunked the rumor that the upcoming prequel series to Game of Thrones was filming this year.  They also confirmed that the other 4 spin-offs are not moving forward.
  • Amazon is not moving forward with James Gunn's (Guardians of the Galaxy) Starsky and Hutch series, a decision made before Gunn's recent Twitter controversy.
  • The cast of Amazon's Matthew Weiner (Mad Men) series The Romanoffs will include Mad Men stars Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, and Jay R. Ferguson, as well as Isabelle Huppert (Amour), Aaron Eckhart (Thank You for Smoking), Amanda Peet (Brokmire), Corey Stoll (The Strain), Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers), Kerry Bishé (Halt and Catch Fire), Clea DuVall (But I'm a Cheerleader), Griffin Dunne (Dallas Buyers Club), and Ron Livingston (Office Space).
  • Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club) and Matthew Morrision (Glee) will have guest roles on season 2 of SMILF.
  • Diane Guerro (Orange is the New Black) has been cast as Crazy Jane in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol.
  • Timothy Hutton (Leverage) is joining the cast of season 5 of How to Get Away With Murder.
  • Roberta Colindrez (I Love Dick) cast in season 2 of Starz' Vida.
  • Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Infinity War) to take over the body swapping lead role of Takeshi Kovacs in the second season of Netflix's Altered Carbon.
  • Actor Rob Morgan (Mudbound) has taken a role in the next season of NBC's hit series This is Us.
  • Shelley Conn (Strike Back) and James D’Arcy (Agent Carter) have been cast in Starz' adaptation of Daniel O’Malley's fantasy espionage The Rook series.
  • Kathryn Newton Nabs (Big Little Lies) has taken the lead role in Netflix's yet untitled series that is being described as LOST meets Lord of the Flies.
  • Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), James McAvoy (Split), and Ruth Wilson (Luther) to star in the BBC's television adaptation of Philip Pullman's fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials.
  • Monty Python Icon John Cleese will appear in the season 3 premiere of Speechless.
  • Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$) has joined the cast of Netflix limited series Unbelievable.
  • Cody Fern (The Assassination of Gianni Versace) has joined the cast of American Horror Story: Apocalypse as Michael Langdon, the child of Tate Langdon and Vivien Harmon from American Horror Story's first season, Murder House.
  • Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight), and Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers) have joined the cast of Netflix series Central Park Five.
  • Alfre Woodward (Luke Cage)  has joined the cast of Apple's upcoming series See.
  • Sabrina Gennarino (The Walking Dead) has been cast in USA's upcoming series The Purge.
  • Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright to appear as themselves in an upcoming episode of Madam Secretary.
  • Rhona Mitra (The Last Ship) joins the cast of Supergirl as the Villain Mercy Graves.
  • David Tennant (Doctor Who) is the latest addition to the voice cast of Rooster Teeth's gen:Lock.
  • Maggie Lawson (Psych) has joined the cast of Lethal Weapon's third season.
  • Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation) is reuniting with Next Generation co-star Jonathan Frakes as she will be appearing in an episode of The Orville that Frakes is directing.
  • Octavia Spence (The Help) to star as Madam C.J. Walker, the first first black female millionaire in the United States, in Netflix's adaptation of On Her Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles.
  • Amazon's Lord of the Rings series has finally found its Showrunners in JD Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek 4).
  • One of the Star Trek: Discovery shorts, Calypso, will be written by Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay).
  • Matt Corman and Chris Ord (Covert Affairs) to be Co-Showrunner on NBC's The Enemy Within.
  • Phoebe Waller-Bridge herself, has brought on Emerald Fennell (Call the Midwife) to take over her position as Showrunner for season 2 of Killing Eve Waller-Bridge will still be serving as a Producer for the hit series.
  • Lena Waithe (The Chi) has signed a first look deal with Showtime.
  • Larysa Kondracki (Picnic at Hanging Rock) has signed a first look deal with Amazon.
  • Starz programming president Carmi Zlotnik has the first few episodes of American Gods season 2, and claims the series has Bryan Fuller's DNA still in it.  Fuller and his Co-Showrunner Michael Green left American gods after the first season due to financial disputes, American Gods' new Showrunner Jesse Alexander has worked with Fuller on several projects, including Hannibal, and Star Trek: Discovery.
  • Netflix is happy with what they have seen of The OA's second season, and says the series has a 5 year plan.
  • Renewals: Babylon Berlin renewed for a third season.  Yellowstone renewed for a second season.  Darren Aronofsky’s One Strange Rock renewed for a second season.  Sneaky Pete renewed for a third season.  You renewed for a second season.  Altered Carbon renewed for a second season.  Better Call Saul, Fear the Walking Dead, and McMafia all renewed by AMC.  Condor and You Me Her both renewed by Audience/AT&T/DirecTV.  Netflix says the door is open for a 3rd season of Master of None as soon as Aziz Ansari is ready.  A second Gimore Girls revival is possible at Netflix as well.
  • Cancellations:  Sharp Objects will not return for a second season, as the Showrunner has declined not to make it, Hulu has cancelled Freakish after 2 seasons, Arrested Development's future is uncertain.
