News

  • Netflix has signed a deal with former President of the United States and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama to produce content under their new production company Higher Ground Productions.   
  • Though the pilot was rejected by Hulu, it appears that Locke and Key might find a home at Netflix.
  • Actress Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) has signed on to produce and star in a new series about Actress Vivien Leigh.  The series is being developed by FremantleMedia  and Mainstreet Pictures.
  • Richard Geere (Pretty Woman) will take on the lead role in MotherFatherSon for the BBC.
  • Sundance will act as the US partner for the international production The Name of the Rose.  John Turturro (The Night Of), Michael Emerson (LOST) and Rupert Everett (Cemetery Man) are set to star in the limited series.
  • SyFy's upcoming Ruso Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War) produced comic book adaptation Deadly Class has had its Showrunner Adam Targum (Banshee) replaced by Mick Betancourt (Shots Fired).  Creative differences was cited as the reason.
  • Popular Actor Michael B Jordan (Chronicle) has taken the lead voice over role in the Rooster Teeth animated series gen:LOCK.
  • Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) and David Thewlis (Fargo) have signed on to season 2 of Netflix's animated series Big Mouth.  Rodriguez will be playing Gina, a soccer playing girl, while Thewlis will portray the Shame Wizard, another imaginary representation of puberty for the series.
  • Casting has begun for Damon Lindelof's (LOST) reportedly loose adaptation of the classic graphic novel Watchmen for HBO.  Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), Louis Gossett Jr (Iron Eagle), Adelaide Clemens (Rectify), and Andrew Howard (Limitless) have been cast with King's role being described as the lead.  Lindelof has stated that many of the roles will be new, and not carry overs from the comic.
  • James Cromwell (The Green Mile) has joined the cast of Counterpart as Yanek, the Warden of the underground facility Echo.
  • Zachary Levi (Chuck) has joined the cast of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel as a Manhattan area Doctor who finds himself in Maisel's orbit.
  • Adam Nagaitis (The Terror), Jessie Buckley (Taboo), Adrian Rawlins (Hard Sun), and Con O’Neill (Happy Valley) have been cast in HBO's Chernobyl.
  • Ryan Guzman (Heroes Reborn) has been cast in season 2 of Fox's 911 as a yet to be named Firefighter. 
  • Supergirl has put up a casting notice for a transgender woman of open ethnicity.  The yet to be cast character is named Nia Nal, and is described as a young Cat Grant-type in her early 20s.
  • The recently canceled SyFy series The Expanse has been officially picked up for revival by Amazon.  Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is said to be a massive fan of the series and its source material.
  • The Marvelous Mrs Maisel has been renewed for a third season at Amazon.
  • Baskets has been renewed for a 4th season at FX.
  • LA to Vegas officially canceled by Fox.
