- Last week we lead with talk of Comcast outbidding Disney to purchase a part of 20th Century Fox. This week, we can report that Disney has bested Comcast's bid of $65B with a new bid of $71.3B. There doesn't seem to be much talk of another bid from Comcast either.
- Netflix continues to buy up key talent. They have now added Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) to their stable of television Producers that already included Jenji Kohan (GLOW), Shonda Rhimes (Scandal), and Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story).
- ABC has ordered a new reality series titled Castaways that seems to be borrowing heavily from the networks beloved drama series LOST. On the surface the show might seem like just a twist on the Survivor premise, but the series is promising flashback-esque pre-game footage of the contestants in their regular lives as a means of crafting a narrative.
- Clive Barker is teaming with Universal Cable Productions, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and SyFy on a Nightbreed series. Nightbreed, an adaptation of Barker's short story collection Cabal, had already been adapted as a movie in 1990.
- MTV is considering a re-boot of the animated cult classic Beavis and Butthead spin-off series Daria. Daria would be part of a plan to mine MTV's IP catalog for monetizable content. Other properties in development include The Real World, Made, and Aeon Flux.
- Adrian Pasdar's (Marvel's Agents of SHIELD) short lived series Profit is being considered for a reboot. The ruthless protagonist of the series is often cited as a progenitor to Tony Soprano, Dexter Morgan, and Walter White, a ruthless series lead who got ahead using dark tactics, including blackmail and murder.
- It is finally official. The Roseanne Barr-less Roseanne spin-off series, The Conners, has been picked up by ABC.
- Child's Play franchise Creator Don Mancini has announced on Twitter that a TV series based on the fan favorite horror movies is currently in development.
- Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2) is attached to a Hulu original series in which the Actor will portray a "soulless" movie star, named Josh Brolin, who transitions into the role of a self help Guru.
- James Wan (Aquaman) will co-direct the pilot episode of DC's Swamp Thing alongside Deran Sarfian (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
- Star Trek: The Next Generation's Riker, Jonathan Frakes to return for Star Trek Discovery's 2nd season as the Director of the season's second and tenth episodes.
- Russell Crowe (Gladiator) is set to portray the controversial head of Fox News, Roger Ailes, in Showtime's upcoming series The Loudest Voice in the Room, about the conservative news network's rise to power.
- Jodie Foster (Hotel Artemis) is reportedly close to signing on for a key role in FX's highly anticipated adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's classic comic book series, Y: The Last Man.
- Jason Ritter (The Event) has landed the lead role in Netflix's super-hero drama Raising Dion. Ritter will portray Pat, who finds himself helping to raise, and keep secret, the super-powered son of his deceased best friend Mark, who will be portrayed by Black Panther's Micheal B Jordan.
- Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project) might be making a surprise guest appearance in an episode of the 13th season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
- The Witcher Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich stated on Twitter that international casting is currently taking place.
- Renewals: AMC has renewed their historical fiction monster series The Terror, with season 2 taking place in a Japanese Internment Camp. David Lynch is hinting at more Twin Peaks. Netflix's Castlevania has seen it's season 2 order doubled to 8 episodes.
- Cancellations: Comic Book Men Cancelled by AMC. Timeless has been cancelled again by NBC, but with the possibility of a movie conclusion. Jerry Springer ending after 4,000 episodes.
