- One of the Game of Thrones spin-offs has landed a pilot order at HBO. The yet untitled prequel takes place thousands of years before the events of the current HBO series and focuses on the declining relationship between the First Men and the Children of the Forest that eventually leads to the Long Night and the birth of the White Walkers. This particular project was co-created by GRR Martin, the original author of the books upon which Game of Thrones is based, and Kick-Ass Writer Jane Goldman, who would serve as Showrunner if the series is ordered.
- Netflix has ordered a new series from Charlie Covell (The End of The F***ing World) titled Kaos. The new series is a dark comedy based on Greek mythology.
- Media Rights Capital is planning a 10 episode limited series adaptation of Stephen King's The Outsider. Richard Price (The Night Of) is set to write the series.
- Amazon has ordered Modern Love, a romantic comedy anthology series from John Carney (Once).
- Though Media Rights Capital's plan to make an expanded Dark Tower universe failed at the box-office with the first film, The Dark Tower, the connected television series is, somehow, still alive at Amazon. The series has seen several scripts presented and will likely not resemble its original purpose as connective tissue for a film franchise.
- Fantasy Author Brandon Sanderson (Mistborne) is teaming up with FremantleMedia North America and Random House Studio to create a multi-media franchise. A television series is at the heart of the project, titled Dark One, which also includes a book series, a graphic novel, and even a podcast.
- Ryan Murphy (Pose) is already considering his next projects through his recently inked deal with Netflix. Murphy has stated that he wants to have a talk show focused on 1 on 1 conversations, as well as a series focused on the #MeToo movement.
- Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes (Scandal) has already set the first project of her Netflix deal, an adaptation of the New York Magazine article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People by Jessica Pressler.
- Netflix has picked up Away, a space set drama from Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights) that focuses on the first human mission to Mars.
- Hot off her exit from AMC's The Walking Dead spin-off, Kim Dickens says that her next project is the long anticipated Deadwood movie at HBO.
- Seth Green, and much of his team from Robot Chicken, have landed a series order from Hulu for Crossing Swords, an animated comedy/fantasy series.
- Apple is developing an adaptation of Gregory David Robert’s novel Shantaram. Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle) has been set to write the series.
- Apple has also picked up Little Voice, a half-hour dramedy from Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson (Waitress). The series will be produced by JJ Abrams (LOST).
- Hulu is now the US distributor for the Canadian comedy hit series Letterkenny.
- Temple Street Productions, the studio behind Orphan Black, has acquired the rights to develop Kelley Armstrong’s Rockton mystery novels for television.
- Peter Jackson has definitively stated that he is not involved, in any way, with Amazon's currently in development Lord of the Rings prequel series.
- Mega Producer Greg Berlanti has signed a $300 million deal to stay at Warner Bros. The Producer is behind The CW's Arrow-verse shows, and a plethora of additional content.
- Mark Hamill (Star Wars) will voice Hydra Scientist Arnim Zola in Marvel's Avengers: Black Panther's Quest for Disney XD. The project saw him directly working with comic book icon Stan Lee.
- Danielle Campbell (The Originals) has joined the cast of Tell Me a Story, the new CBS All Access series from Scream Scribe Kevin Williamson.
- Tony Goldwyn (Ghost) has joined the cast of Chambers. Goldwyn will be starring opposite Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) in Netflix's supernatural drama.
- Ruth Wilson (Luther) has joined the cast of BBC's adaptation of His Dark Materials.
- Lizzy Caplan (Party Down) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) have taken the lead roles in Apple's Are You Sleeping. Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), Mekhi Phifer (Dawn of the Dead), Michael Beach (Sons of Anarchy), Tracie Thoms (Grindhouse), and Haneefah Wood (Baskets) have also joined the cast.
- Allison Tolman (Fargo) to recur in Hulu's Castle Rock.
- Danielle Nicolet, who portrays the love interest of Jesse L. Martin's Joe West in The CW's The Flash has been upped to series regular for the shows upcoming 5th season.
- Speaking of The Flash, Kid Flash Actor Keiynan Lonsdale is leaving both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow due to changes in his personal and future professional life.
- Captain Jean Luc Picard himself, Patrick Steward, says he might have good cause to look at Star Trek: Discovery soon, hinting at a possible involvement in the series.
- DC's streaming service, The DC Universe, is considering an August debut.
- Renewals: 13 Reasons Why and Catslevania will each be given a 3rd season at Netflix, and a 4 episode 5th season of Luther has been confirmed at BBC.
- People of Earth has had its season 3 renewal pulled and is now official cancelled at TBS, despite the entire season already being written.
