News

  • Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) and Jake Busey (The Frighteners) have been cast in season 3 of Netflix's Stranger Things.  Elwes will play Hawkins sleazy Mayor, and Busey will portray Bruce, a Journalist.  
  • SyFy has ordered The Russo brother's (Avengers: Infinity War) adaptation of Deadly Class as a series.
  • Idris Elba (Avengers: Infinity War) will star in and produce the Netflix original comedy series Turn Up Charlie, about a DJ who becomes the Nanny of his famous friend's problem child.
  • Cinemax has given a series order to Jett, a drama series from Sebastian Gutierrez (Gothika) starring Carla Gugino (Sin City).
  • Lisa Joy and Jonathon Nolan (Westworld) are adapting William Gibson's SciFi book The Peripheral for Amazon
  • Blumhouse simultaneously developing Worst Roomate Ever, based on the New York Magazine article of the same name, for TV and Film.
  • Amazon is developing an adaptation of the cult British series Utopia.  The series will be run by Gone Girl Author Gillian Flynn, who was previously atatched when the series was in development at HBO with David Fincher (Fight Club).
  • Amazon is developing adaptations of Jonathan Hickman's East of West and Transhuman.
  • Sundance Now has acquired the British comedy series Motherland.
  • Hulu has picked up Pen15, a middle-school comedy produced by and starring Maya Erskine (10 Cloverfield Lane) and Anna Konkle (The Escort) as 13 year old versions of themselves.
  • Netflix is bringing Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City back as a 10 episode limited series.  Ellen Page (Hard Candy) will be joining the cast, and Lauren Morelli (Orange Is the New Black) will be running the series.
  • Crackle is developing a science fiction adaptation of Heart of Darkness.
  • Youtube Red has ordered a pilot for High & Tight from Chris Marrs (Arrested Development), a buddy comedy starring Sung Kang (Fast Five) and Danny Pudi (Community).
  • Annapurna Television is developing a series based on The New York Times' recent expose of the Nxivm sex cult, which included Smallville Actress Allison Mack.
  • The Disney Channel has ordered an anime inspired Star Wars Resistance, an animated Star Wars series from Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels)
  • Netflix is making a multi camera comedy series created by and starring Comedian Gabriel Iglesias.
  • Netflix has ordered Another Life, a science fiction series which will star Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica).
  • David Fincher (Fight Club) is returning to direct episodes of Netflix's Mindhunter for its second season, alongside fellow Directors Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and Carl Franklin (Devil in a Blue Dress). 
  • The subject of the 3rd season of National Geographic's Genius will be Frankenstein Author Mary Shelley.
  • Arrow Writer Beth Schwartz is taking over as the series Showrunner.
  • Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Diego Luna (Rogue One), and Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door) have been added to the cast of season 3 of Trollhunters.
  • Gino Vento (The Deuce) and Tony Plana (Ugly Betty) have been cast in recurring roles in Kurt Sutter's Sons of Anarchy spin-off series Mayans MC.
  • John Goodman (Roseanne) and Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum) have joined the cast of Black Earth Rising, a co-production of Netflix and the BBC.
  • Noah Emmerich (The Americans) has joined the cast of Netflix's The Spy, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat)
  • Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Underground) has joined the cast of HBO's Lovecraft Country.
  • Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones), Timothy West (Last Tango in Halifax), and Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’s Diary) have joined the cast of HBO and BBC co-production Gentleman Jack.
  • Leo Suter (Victoria), Stuart Harris (Outlander), and Imogen King (Darkest Hour) have joined season 2 of Clique, which will now air in the US on Pop.
  • CancellationsSeven Seconds, Trollhunters (after its upcoming 3rd season) at Netflix, Ash Vs. Evil Dead at Starz, Tremors at SyFy, The Path at Hulu, and Homeland (after it's 8th season) at Showtime.
  • Renewals: Taboo at FX, Money Heist at Netflix, Billions at Showtime, At Home With Amy Sedaris at TruTV, Genius at National Geographic, and ahead of its season 1 premiere, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan at Amazon.
