The Weekly Set Podcast Episode 217

The Weekly Set Podcast Episode 173

For this week's episode of The Weekly Set podcast, The Total Screen's Will and Tyson conclude their discussion of the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock.  In Castle Rock 's first season finale, Romans , the show's writers attempt to craft an uncertain conclusion.  Unfortunately, in the opinions of both Tyson and Will, what we are given is an undoing of all the great revelations from the last episode, and an acute lack of character logic.  While this is an unsatisfying conclusion, the duo felt the ride was worthwhile.  In addition to Castle Rock , Tyson catches us up on his thoughts about Lodge 49 , The Purge , Mayans MC , and Insatiable . For this week's episode of The Weekly Set podcast, The Total Screen's Will and Tyson continue our discussion of Hulu's new seasonal anthology series, Castle Rock .  Based on the connective tissue of Stephen King's prolific collective works, the first season of Castle Rock tells the story of Henry Deaver a death row Attorney who returns to the home town that largely abhors him.  When he was young, he disappeared for several days, and in the chaos of his disappearance, his adoptive father, a beloved local Reverend, died under mysterious circumstances.  Deaver returns to town after receiving a cryptic call about a young man at Shawshank Prison who is discovered, with no records, after the Warden's suicide.  In episode 7 of Castle Rock , The Queen , we see the town and the events of the series compressed into the perspective of a mother who has lost her mental grounding in time.
